I continue to look at family photographs as a foundation for paintings. The images are always a reference connected to many emotions related to family and life in general.

I'm beginning to crop the original pictures and look at specific/contained areas within the original photo that clarify content and meaning that I see. I'm also experimenting with cropping as a way to make seemingly innocent images or objects appear more threatening.

There are always circumstances surrounding the image; the timing, the location, the aspects of my personal memory relative to the context in which the image was recorded.

In each image, I still see the illusion of perfection and hints of brokenness which are part of my story, hoping the viewer finds connection to their own stories.
