I took my first proper painting class at the Glassell School of Art in the late 1990s. The Glassell School, part of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, fosters a vibrant community that engages artists of all ages, experience levels, and backgrounds. With my training in interior architecture, I had foundational skills in sketching, drawing, and architectural rendering, which led me to begin my studies with figure drawing—an area that was new to me. I then transitioned into oil painting, progressing from beginner classes to more challenging intermediate and advanced levels.

Life took me on a brief hiatus while I focused on raising my three children during their busy high school years. However, after they left for college, I returned to classes. In 2013, I enrolled in a digital drawing class, which inspired the painting techniques I employed in my Identity series and Gardenscapes. These series served as crucial stepping stones, ultimately leading to my current work in the Artifacts series,
